Background
Sube, Inc. was founded in 1996 in Taos New Mexico.
Agnes
Chavez, founder and developer, started an after school
program to teach Spanish to children that grew to become
SUBE, a complete multimedia language curriculum designed
for school classrooms teaching Spanish or English as a second language. She has worked closely with teachers
over the past twelve years, field-testing the games and
adding activities based
on teacher requests and needs.
The SUBE program is now being used in over 750 classrooms nationwide.
Agnes is an artist, teacher and entrepreneur with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts. Her parents are Cuban immigrants and their strong connection to Cuban values and culture influenced her desire to pass on the Spanish language and culture to her son, Silviano, who inspired Sube. She combined her love of teaching art to children with her desire to preserve the Spanish language when she created SUBE. In 2004, she saw the urgent need for an ESL (English as a second language) program and adapted the SUBE model for English language learners. (SUBE ENGLISH) Agnes’s education and 15 years of teaching experience bring innovative insight to the company and in the creation of new products and services.
