Content Sharing: Exchange lessons, materials and ideas
How do we meet the individual needs of every teacher and parent as they adapt the Sube materials to their unique classroom or community?
We consider this our greatest challenge. We have been working closely with teachers and parents using the Sube materials to assure successful implementation in the classroom.
Through our free online and phone support we provide the consultation that is crucial for successful implementation. But we were looking for a way to empower teachers to easily exchange ideas and materials in a more dynamic and spontaneous way. Since teachers and parents using Sube have come up with their own unique solutions over the years, and are always happy to share and exchange ideas, we decided to provide a collaborative environment through which they could interact on their own.
This content sharing feature allows you, the teacher or parent, to share lesson plans or ideas for games, and actually upload songs, videos, and photos. You can also search the database to find materials submitted by other teachers or parents. Please try it and let us know how it works for you.
Teacher forum and Parent Forum
These forums are a great place to exchange ideas with others that share the same interest in teaching a second language, or preserving a native language. For example, if you are a parent you can share ideas on how to raise your child bilingual or how to start teaching a second language at home. If you are a teacher, you can discuss challenges in the classroom and share solutions. You can also search the forum database to locate specific issues. This forum makes it easy, so give it a try!
In our search for innovative ways to teach and preserve language and culture, we happened upon a new technology called Digital Storytelling. This powerful new media allows anyone, with little computer experience, to create short 3-4 minute video clips that can be played on a computer, shared as an email or played on a television. Their power is in the fact that it is first and foremost, a personal story, realized using photos, music and your own voice narration. Digital Storytelling can be a powerful tool in the classroom or at home to preserve oral histories, develop language skills, educate or raise awareness on community issues.
We are building a database of frequently
asked questions that come up when you start using the Sube materials.
This database will be used to create a web-based video tutorial series
that will provide enhanced online training. If you have a question that
is not listed here, please email or call us so we can answer it and add
it to our list. If interested in being notified when our video tutorial
becomes available, please join our mail list.
